Biografie:
“I regard you as a great Trio”. Antonio Meneses, cellist in the renowned “Trio Beaux Arts”, expresses himself in these terms about the ensemble formed by Mauro Lo-guercio and the two brothers Angelo&Francesco Pepicelli. His praising opinion is shared, among others, by Renato Zanettovich, violinist in the “Trio di Trieste” (“A magnificent Schubert: you’re extremely forceful”) and by Bruno Giuranna (“An excel-lent trio, with a really uncommon cohesion between instruments; listening to you has been a great pleasure for me. Bravissimi!”).The reasons for this extraordinary success are to be found in the deep motivations which in 2005 have inspired the three musicians to join, in order to be not submitted to the “holy” rules of the “market” (imposing a pace which is less and less compatible with a real “study in depth” of music, and subduing the very time of study to the needs of a so called “productivity” which has nothing to do with musical research).
The encounter between Angelo and Francesco Pepicelli (who had already been playing together since 25 years, and had already accompanied some of the greatest names of concert music) and Mauro Loguercio (back from a number of chamber ex-periences with major artists such as Nikita Magaloff, Antonio Meneses, Maria João Pires, Tamás Vásáry), is an happy example of the right way to intend the “playing together”: i.e. an open confrontation till the attainment of an absolute conviction on the musical fact.
Considering that in 74% of societies in which they have performed, they have ear-ned a subsequent invitation, it is quite manifest that this choice has its own reward, and places them rightfully in the wake of the great Italian tradition of piano trio.
In the 5 years of their activity abroad, the three musicians have performed in Eng-land, Austria, Switzerland, France and South America. In Italy, they have played for “Unione Musicale” in Turin; for “Amici della Musica” in Vicenza, Piacenza, Verona and Lucca; for “Società dei concerti” in Milan and Brescia, and furthermore in the Quirinale, in the Scuola Normale Superiore (Pisa), in the Teatro Nuovo (Udine) and in the Istituzione Sinfonica Abruzzese.
In 2010, their first CD has been published, containing Beethoven’s “Ghost” Trio and Brahms’ Trio in C minor ─ two among the most visited works in the entire repertoire for the standard piano trio. With this choice, the TM accepts the risk of a direct com-parison with the greatest Trios of all times. And, indeed, a significant feedback ar-rives soon, with the first review published on the magazine "Musica": "The TM rea-ches heights which stimulate authoritative comparisons: we are thinking in particular to the Philips recording of the Trio Beaux Arts" (Dario Miozzi).
