Marie Jacquot – Inaugural Concert with the WDR Symphony Orchestra

“Aufbruch” – a fresh start, a new beginning. This is the title of Marie Jacquot’s first concert as the new Chief Conductor of the WDR Symphony Orchestra. Today, on 18 September 2026, she will take to the podium in this new role for the first time at the Cologne Philharmonie.

The programme brings together works by Wagner, Chopin, Holmès and Scriabin – offering a first glimpse of the musical diversity we can look forward to under Marie Jacquot’s leadership, both in Cologne and on tour.

The conductor herself is particularly enthusiastic about her collaboration with the orchestra, which she describes as an ensemble that “combines discipline and precision with a very special joy in taking risks and embracing passion.”

We’re very much looking forward to this special inaugural concert, with Yulianna Avdeeva joining as soloist – and, of course, to many more inspiring musical moments to come!
