Under the direction of Andrés Orozco-Estrada, the Reina Sofía School Orchestra makes its U.S. debut today. The young musicians perform together with members of the Filarmónica Joven de Colombia. The program opens with Albéniz’s El Puerto from Iberia, Book I, followed by Barber’s Violin Concerto, performed by Renaud Capuçon. The evening concludes with Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, “From the New World”—a work that also premiered at Carnegie Hall in 1893.
