Axel Kober and Bruckner's Ninth with the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra

In a concert entitled "Beginning and End", Axel Kober will conduct the Duisburg Philharmonic as principal conductor in the 11th Philharmonic Concert on May 24 and 25. The program includes Ernst von Dohnányi's Variations on a Children's Song for piano and orchestra as well as Anton Bruckner's Ninth Symphony.

Dohnányi's variations are based on the famous children's song "Twinkle, twinkle, little star." The composer uses the song to create eleven variations and a fugue, which are characterized by their colorful orchestral sound and a virtuosic piano solo. The soloist in the first half of the concert will be Isata Kanneh-Mason.

In the second half of the concert, Bruckner's Ninth Symphony will be heard. The monumental work is also characterized by its basic idea of unfolding a large, multi-layered form from simple musical building blocks.
