Julia Hagen receives the Beethoven Ring 2022

The BEETHOVEN-RING 2022 of the CITIZENS FOR BEETHOVEN goes to Julia Hagen. This was announced by the chairman of the Beethoven Association, Stephan Eisel: “Julia Hagen is one of the most promising instrumentalists of her generation. She is equally at home in chamber music and in working with large orchestras. Her playing gives the cello its own personality, and that fascinates listeners.”

The Ring was awarded in a vote of the 1,700 members of the CITIZENS FOR BEETHOVEN among the five youngest soloists of the 2022 Beethovenfest who interpreted a work by Beethoven. Hagen impressed at the final concert with Beethoven’s Triple Concerto, which she performed with pianist Kit Armstrong (2018 Beethoven Ring recipient), violinist Renaud Capuçon and the Aurora Orchestra conducted by Nicholas Collon.

It will be awarded to her in early summer 2023 during a concert in the Chamber Music Hall of the Beethoven-Haus in Bonn. Previous recipients include Gustavo Dudamel (2004), Julia Fischer (2005) Lisa Batiashvili (2006), Nicolas Altstaedt (2015) and Igor Levit (2017).
