Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla debuts with the Vienna Philharmonic

This week marks an important milestone in Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla’s career as she makes her debut with the Vienna Philharmonic. She will conduct concerts at the Musikverein on May 2, 3 and 4, followed by a performance at the Wiener Konzerthaus on May 6.

The concerts on May 3 and 4 are part of the orchestra’s distinguished subscription series, where Mirga will be the first female conductor to officially lead the Vienna Philharmonic in these performances.

The program includes Midsummer Song for strings and percussion by Raminta Šerkšnytė, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat minor, Op. 23, featuring soloist Yuja Wang, and selected movements from Jean Sibelius’s Lemminkäinen Suite, Op. 22.

We warmly congratulate Mirga on this significant artistic moment and look forward to an inspiring collaboration with one of the world’s most celebrated orchestras.
