Alexander Malofeev is celebrating a remarkable week of international recognition. The 24-year-old pianist has just been named Young Artist of the Year at the 2026 Gramophone Awards, while his debut solo album Forgotten Melodies, released by Sony Classical in February 2026, has also earned him the OPUS KLASSIK Award for Young Talent of the Year.
The two prestigious distinctions mark an extraordinary moment in Malofeev’s young career and highlight the international acclaim surrounding Forgotten Melodies. The album brings together music by four Russian composers – Mikhail Glinka, Alexander Glazunov, Sergei Rachmaninoff and Nikolai Medtner – and reflects Malofeev’s personal connection to this repertoire.
The celebrations continue this Sunday, 11 October, when Malofeev will perform at the OPUS KLASSIK Gala at Konzerthaus Berlin. As one of this year’s OPUS KLASSIK Young Talent of the Year award recipients, he will take to the stage to perform music from Forgotten Melodies, among other repertoire.
The OPUS KLASSIK Gala will be recorded by ZDF and broadcast on Sunday, 11 October, at 22:15, giving audiences the opportunity to experience the celebration and Malofeev’s performance from home.
