Giedrė Šlekytė – Káťa Kabanová in Berlin

Leoš Janáček's opera "Káťa Kabanová" is the portrait of an unusual young woman fighting the circumstances she faces. The touching story will be staged at the Komische Oper Berlin in a new production to be premiered on November 27th. Internationally successful soprano Annette Dasch will be appearing in the title role, director is Jetske Mijnssen. For conductor Giedrė Šlekytė, who originates from Lithuania, it is double premiere, as this is also her first appearance at the house. Starting with this season, Šlekytė is First Guest Conductor of Brucknerorchester Linz and at the same time Assistent of the GMD at Bayerische Staatsoper. Recently she lead a highly acclaimed new production of „Dialogues des Carmélites“ at Oper Frankfurt.
