Markus Poschner conducts "Tristan und Isolde" at Bayreuth Festival

The chief conductor of the Bruckner Orchester and Landestheater Linz as well as the Orchestre della Svizzera Italiana, Markus Poschner, will be standing in for "Tristan und Isolde", the opening new production of this year's Bayreuth Festival. Stephen Gould and Catherine Foster in the title roles, Roland Schwab directs.

In 2020 Markus Poschner was awarded the Austrian Music Theatre Prize (category: "Best Musical Direction") on the occasion of his interpretation of the work at the Landestheater Linz. For the renowned Wagner expert, his debut at Bayreuth Festival is also a reunion with the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra, which he already conducted in 2019 at a guest performance of in Abu-Dhabi ("Die Walküre").
